ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Woodside Leisure Centre facilities are set within a Green Flag accredited park with mature landscape which is managed to exceptionally high standards. Woodside is a valued local park and home to a wide range of sport and leisure facilities including:
-
Woodside Leisure Centre and Athletics Stadium
-
Indoor bowls centre
-
Artificial turf pitches
-
Adult and junior grass football pitches
-
Cricket pitches and a cricket pavilion
-
Boxing gym and football changing rooms located within the stable block of the former Woodside Lodge, Victorian manor house buildings.
Watford Borough Council is planning the development of a part of the Woodside Park at the North West corner of the site where the Historic Woodside Lodge and Farm buildings are located. These buildings are presently home to Watford Amateur Boxing Club, Watford Town Cricket Club, Changing Rooms, and the Park Maintenance Team Depot.
This first phase of the development project will see the establishment of the Sports Village providing modern up-to-date facilities for cricket, football and boxing and catering for participants of all ages. The Sports Village will include modern changing facilities, public toilets and a new multi-purpose hall, overlooking the enclosed cricket pitch, for use by the community.
The design approach will aim to not only achieve the functional requirements but provide an exciting and attractive blend of new build and remodelled and restored historic buildings.
